We are looking for an Intern, Technical Program Manager in the AI Business Unit to join our “Agentic Solutions” - Packaged Genies and Marketplace team. This is a one-year internship with intent to hire, and a rare opportunity to own a high-visibility project from day one and directly shape how the team defines, plans, and delivers agentic use cases. You won’t just be analyzing requirements; you’ll uncover patterns in how functional work moves through our system, run the agile cadence that gets it delivered, and turn what you learn into solutions the Technical Owner and Functional Lead will act on.
In this role, you will also be responsible to:
You will own the operating rhythm that keeps Packaged Genies’ delivery predictable and visible:
Agile Cadence Ownership: Run the day-to-day agile cadence across all workstreams; sprint planning, backlog grooming, standups, and retrospectives — not just observing them, but running them.
Jira Story Preparation: Based on direction from the Technical Owner, decompose requirements into well-structured Jira epics and stories with clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, and dependencies, so the team has sufficient clarity to execute.
Milestone & Deliverable Tracking: Set and track milestones for the requirement-to-delivery pipeline (requirement → breakdown → task → done), flagging slippage early and keeping the Technical Owner informed with concise, accurate status updates.
Stakeholder Alignment: Align stakeholders across workstreams; Product Owner, Technical Lead, Functional Lead, and engineering; on scope, sequencing, and dependencies.
Program Documentation: Document your approach, decisions, and findings in Confluence so the program’s knowledge stays accessible and current.
Alongside program management, you will do the structured groundwork that helps leadership make informed delivery and process decisions:
Requirements Gathering: Partner with workstream leads across Packaged Genies to gather functional requirements and turn them into structured, usable specs.
Pattern Analysis: Classify and categorize functional requirements and use cases to surface patterns; recurring integration types, common breakdown gaps, sizing errors and build a process to keep this current.
Delivery Benchmarking: Quantify the trends and benchmarks that answer the delivery questions leadership is asking, for example, where requirements stall, how often “done” gets disputed, and how task sizing holds up in practice.
Root-Cause Analysis: Identify and document the underlying drivers behind unclear requirements or poorly sized tasks, supported by evidence from Jira and requirement-tracking data.
Solution Proposals: Propose solutions, including AI-driven and automation-based approaches that leverage Workato’s own agentic platform where appropriate, and define how their success will be measured. This is an analytical input role; final process and prioritization decisions are owned by the Technical Owner and Functional Lead.
Program Health Tracker: Design and build a live tracker that surfaces both functional health (requirement quality, breakdown gaps) and program health (velocity, WIP, confidence flags) — something that keeps generating insight beyond the initial analysis.
Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or an MBA with a technical undergraduate background or hands-on IT/technology experience
Strong interest in data, functional/business analysis, program management, and Agile methodologies, this role blends all of them equally, not just one.
Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization techniques, and a comfort level in handling large, varied datasets.
Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools is a plus.
Basic familiarity with APIs, integrations, or enterprise systems (CRM, HRMS, ITSM) is a plus, enough to engage credibly with engineers on dependencies and scope.
Interest in Agentic AI, emerging AI tools, and their practical application to real business problems.
Proactive and comfortable working through ambiguity, with a mindset geared toward continuous improvement.
Strong communicator, able to translate complex findings and functional requirements into clear, actionable specs and program updates.
Thinks analytically and grounds recommendations in evidence rather than assumptions.
Takes ownership of their work, both the analysis and the program’s delivery outcomes and is genuinely curious about the reasoning behind the data.
How Packaged Genies and Agentic Apps evolve through the full product lifecycle from requirements and design to implementation, certification, Marketplace listing, and continuous enhancement.
How to run a multi-workstream Agile program end to end; planning, tracking, stakeholder alignment, and delivery accountability.
How to turn raw delivery data from Jira and requirement tracking into metrics and benchmarks that leadership acts on.
How agent orchestration brings together Skills, knowledge bases, and actions across systems to create intelligent, end-to-end workflows.
How to apply AI and automation, including Workato’s own platform to improve internal processes, and how to measure the impact.
The dynamics of building products within a growing ecosystem that serves both direct customers and partners.
Location: Hyderabad, India
Duration: One-year internship with intent to hire
Work Model: Hybrid — minimum 2 days in-office per week, aligned with Workato’s global hybrid work policy.
