What this role involves

Notice to applicants:

We have seen a rise in recruitment scams. Please note that outreach from Khan Academy recruiters will only come from the @khanacademy.org domain. Our team does not use Gmail or other personal accounts for contacting potential candidates. Khan Academy will never solicit money, equipment fees, or sensitive financial information at any stage of the hiring process. We also do not work with external recruiting agencies, so outreach from headhunters presenting opportunities on behalf of Khan Academy is illegitimate. Please always check the email domain and cross-reference the position with the official Khan Academy Careers page to confirm an opening is valid.

ABOUT KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission to deliver a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Our proven learning platform offers free, high-quality supplemental learning content and practice that cover Pre-K - 12th grade and early college core academic subjects, focusing on math and science. We have over 181 million registered learners globally and are committed to improving learning outcomes for students worldwide, focusing on learners in historically under-resourced communities.

OUR COMMUNITY

Our students, teachers, and parents come from all walks of life, and so do we. Our team includes people from academia, traditional/non-traditional education, big tech companies, and tiny startups. We hire great people from diverse backgrounds and experiences because it makes our company stronger. We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as necessary to achieve our mission and impact the communities we serve. We know that transforming education starts in-house with learning about ourselves and our colleagues. We strive to be world-class in investing in our people and commit to developing you as a professional.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for an experienced Experience Architect (Principal Product Design Specialist) to join our Design team. This role exists because Khan Academy’s product surface has grown—students, teachers, parents, and district admins now move across many products, tools, and touch points, and no single team owns the seams between them. You will be the person who sees the whole system: how a teacher’s experience assigning a lesson connects to a student’s experience completing it, how a district admin’s reporting view relates to what happens in the classroom, and where our information architecture helps or hinders people trying to get things done.

You’re not designing individual screens or flows day-to-day (though you can, and will when it matters). You’re designing the underlying structure—the taxonomies, navigation models, mental models, and cross-product patterns—that make Khan Academy feel like one coherent product rather than a collection of features. You’ll partner closely with the Director of Design, product designers, PMs, and engineering leads across the org, acting as both a hands-on contributor and a strategic advisor who keeps the “big picture” clear as individual teams move fast.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Ecosystem and information architecture: Own and evolve the end-to-end product interaction model and related information architecture across Khan Academy’s products—navigation systems, permission and role models, and the vocabulary we use to describe things. Ensure new features extend this architecture rather than fragment it.

  • Cross-product experience design: Map and design the journeys that span multiple products and user roles (student, teacher, parent, district admin), identifying where handoffs break down, where mental models conflict, and where consolidation or simplification would meaningfully improve the experience.
  • Systems thinking and pattern-setting: Build and maintain the artifacts that make the ecosystem legible to the rest of the org—experience maps, service blueprints, experience architecture diagrams, and design patterns—so that product teams can make locally good decisions that also add up to a coherent whole.
  • Strategic advisory and design leadership: Act as a senior voice on the Design Leadership Team, weighing in on major product decisions with an eye toward long-term coherence and scalability. Partner with design managers, PMs and technical architects to ensure architectural decisions are grounded in real user and district needs.
  • Governance without gatekeeping: Develop lightweight frameworks, guidelines, and review processes that help embedded product designers align with the broader architecture—coaching and influencing rather than mandating, since you won’t own every team’s roadmap.
  • Hands-on craft when it counts: Roll up your sleeves to prototype, wireframe, or redesign critical cross-cutting flows (e.g., navigation, onboarding, account and role management) when the problem is foundational enough to warrant direct involvement. We are an AI-enabled Design team, so the expectation is that you’d use AI tools such as Claude Cowork to complete work efficiently.

Responsibilities may change as business and team needs evolve.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Deep IA and systems expertise: 12+ years of experience in product design, UX architecture, or UX strategy, with a strong track record in information architecture, ecosystem- and multi-platform interaction modeling, and systems-level design work—ideally across complex, multi-sided platforms.
  • Ecosystems thinking: Demonstrated ability to zoom out from individual features to see how a whole product ecosystem fits together, and to translate that view into clear, actionable structures (maps, models, frameworks) that others can build on.
  • Strong craft foundation: Excellent visual, interaction, and structural design skills. You can move fluidly between high-level architecture and detailed execution when needed.
  • Cross-functional influence: A track record of guiding designers, PMs, and engineers toward shared, coherent decisions without formal authority over their teams—through clarity, credibility, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Complexity management: Experience designing for environments with multiple user types, roles, and permission structures (enterprise, B2B2C, marketplace, or platform products are all relevant backgrounds).
  • Communication and storytelling: Ability to make abstract architectural concepts tangible and compelling to both design peers and non-design executive stakeholders.
  • EdTech experience (preferred): Familiarity with K-12 education, school district structures, or other regulated/high-stakes environments is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Motivated by the Khan Academy mission “to provide a free world-class education for anyone, anywhere.”
  • Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of other, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout the organization.

NOTE: Submitting a portfolio with your application is required. We’re looking for a portfolio that highlights the parts of your background and experience that are relevant to the job description. Applications without a portfolio link or attachment (plus password if required) will not be considered.

Design Design Lead – Parametric Models at Cricut

Designs and standardizes producible 3D parametric models, builds automation and templates, and oversees contractors producing Cricut’s customizable content library.

Lead Posted 4 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

Company Description

Cricut® empowers people to make and personalize almost anything—from custom cards and apparel to everyday items and home décor. Our smart cutting machines, design apps, and materials make creativity easy and accessible for everyone. We believe everyone is born creative, and our mission is to put the power of handmade into the hands of all. With a passionate community of Makers around the world, Cricut helps turn inspiration into real, tangible creations—one project at a time.

Let’s make.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Lead Designer of 3D Parametric Models to architect the system and build Cricut’s parametric content library: hundreds of customizable models that stay beautiful, robust, and producible no matter how our members adjust them.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll personally build the reference-quality models that set the standard, define the design system every other model follows, and then lead production against that system as we scale, largely through external contractors.

The work is both as 3D artist and design engineer. If your instinct when you see a model is to ask what should be adjustable, what the sensible bounds are, and whether it still holds together at the extremes, this role will suit you.

This role has no direct reports. You’ll lead through the system you build, the standards you set, and the quality bar you hold.

Responsibilites

  • Design and build reference-quality parametric models that set the standard for everything else in the library
  • Define a consistent parametric design system across hundreds of models, including parameter terminology, grouping, ranges, defaults, dependencies, presets, and the controls our members actually see
  • Design for how people customize, not only how models are constructed. Decide what should be adjustable, what the sensible bounds are, and what stays fixed
  • Keep models producible across their full parameter range, accounting for tolerances, wall thickness, overhangs, supports, layer orientation, and material constraints
  • Build reusable templates, shared components, modeling standards, and validation approaches that make hundreds of models practical to build and maintain
  • Develop automation and scripting that takes manual work out of model production
  • Direct external contractors producing models at scale: write the briefs, set acceptance criteria, review and QA their output, and keep throughput predictable
  • Own our parametric content library end to end, including the system behind it and the content it produces
  • Partner with product and software teams on how parametric controls are presented in our apps
  • Use AI tools to move faster from concept to finished model, and help the team adopt what actually works

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in parametric CAD and computational modeling, including constraints, dependencies, configurations, reusable geometry, and designing models that stay robust across their full parameter range
  • Fluency in tools such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape, Creo, Grasshopper, OpenSCAD, CadQuery, or equivalent
  • A clear point of view on parametric UX: how parameters should be named, grouped, bounded, and defaulted so that someone who is not an expert can customize a model confidently
  • Strong knowledge of design for additive manufacturing, including tolerances, wall thickness, overhangs, supports, layer orientation, material constraints, and maintaining printability across user-customized parameter ranges
  • Industrial and visual design judgment. These models need to be genuinely good looking, not only technically correct
  • Experience with scripting or CAD APIs (Python, Grasshopper scripting, OpenSCAD, CadQuery, or similar)
  • Experience directing external contractors or vendors against a standard, including briefs, reviews, QA, acceptance criteria, and production throughput
  • Comfortable building in ambiguity. Much of this system does not exist yet, and you would rather shape it than wait for it
  • Scrappy and resourceful. You find a way to ship when the tools or the process aren’t there yet
  • Actively using AI tools in your own work and hungry to find more. We want someone who reaches for automation first and can tell us what they have streamlined
  • Collaborative and low ego. You lead through the system and the standard rather than through authority
  • Comfort in 2D tools like Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus, not a requirement
  • Interest in consumer creativity, crafting, making, or DIY (Cricut familiarity is a plus, not required)

Additional Information

We’ve Got You Covered

At Cricut, we take care of our people. Enjoy competitive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, a 401(k) match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement, and a yearly lifestyle stipend to support your wellness and passions. You’ll also receive exclusive employee discounts—and best of all, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most talented, creative, and curious minds out there.

A Quick Note Before You Apply…

Cricut is in an exciting chapter of transformation. We’re evolving fast—refining our strategy, growing our teams, and raising the bar across everything we do. This is an incredible opportunity for the right kind of person—but it’s not for everyone.

We’re looking for A-players—people who thrive in dynamic environments, turn challenges into momentum, and consistently deliver their best work. If that sounds like you, read on.

Here’s what makes someone a great fit for this role (and for this moment at Cricut):

  • You move with urgency. You don’t wait for perfect clarity to act—you start, learn, and adjust.
  • You set high standards. You take ownership, deliver quality, and hold yourself accountable.
  • You stay focused when things move fast. You prioritize what matters most and tune out the noise.
  • You collaborate like a pro. You elevate others, communicate clearly, and bring a low-ego, high-output energy.
  • You embrace AI as part of your toolkit. From idea exploration to data analysis and creative problem-solving, you leverage AI to accelerate innovation and amplify impact—because technology and creativity go hand-in-hand here.

One More Thing (It’s a Big One)

This role is in-office at least 4-5 days per week. We believe real collaboration, innovation, and culture are built face-to-face. If you’re energized by working alongside smart, kind, creative people—and love those hallway conversations that spark the next great idea—you’ll feel right at home.

If you’re looking for a fully remote role, this may not be the right fit. But if you’re excited by challenge, purpose, and building something better—let’s make something amazing together.

  • Proven Design System Track Record: Extensive experience building, scaling, and maintaining production-ready design systems rather than just standalone product features.
  • Cross-Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of the constraints and guidelines governing multiple platforms, including Web, iOS, and Android.
  • Systems-Thinking Mindset: A portfolio demonstrating how individual design decisions impact multiple products, scale sustainably, and optimize designer/engineer workflows.
  • Front-End Alignment: Strong familiarity with how developers inspect, build, and consume components in code repositories.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expert Figma Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Figma libraries, auto-layout, components, variants, variables, and library publication.
  • Accessibility Champion: Solid grasp of accessibility standards (WCAG), contrast requirements, and inclusive design principles.
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with component-driven frameworks (React, Flutter) and Atomic Design methodology.
  • Communication & Documentation: Excellent writing and presentation skills, with an ability to translate complex design system choices into clear executive-level updates and technical guidelines.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • High Adoption & Efficiency: Design and engineering teams actively use the system, resulting in significantly accelerated product shipping cycles.
  • Flawless Cross-Platform Consistency: A unified look, feel, and interactive behavior across all customer-facing touchpoints (Web, Android, iOS).
  • Best-in-Class Documentation: A central, living source of truth that leaves no ambiguity regarding design tokens, component rules, or brand compliance.
  • Scalable Architecture: A foundational library that handles future product expansions, rebrands, or theme changes with minimal friction.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and career growth opportunities.
  • Fully remote work culture and support for professional development.

What to expect in the hiring process

  • Application & portfolio review: we assess your experience, leadership impact, and Design System case studies that demonstrate strategic thinking, process, and measurable outcomes.
  • Preliminary phone call with recruiter: a brief conversation to discuss your background, leadership experience, and expectations.
  • Interview with senior leadership: a deep dive into your leadership approach, design philosophy, and ability to drive impact. This includes a discussion on past projects and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Design leadership challenge: a scenario-based assessment to assess both strategic thinking and leadership skills while balancing UX/UI expertise.
  • Final executive conversation: a discussion with senior leadership to assess alignment with our vision, strategic thinking, and team-building philosophy.

How to apply:

Submit your resume and portfolio showcasing your leadership in managing design teams, driving strategy, and delivering user-centred solutions with measurable business impact. We want to see case studies that demonstrate how you have led and developed designers, prioritised and managed projects, and fostered a high-performing team culture. Design Design Lead – Parametric Models at Cricut

Designs and leads production of customizable 3D parametric models, defining standards, automation, manufacturability constraints, and contractor QA.

Relocation Statement:

  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Design Principal Brand Designer at OLX

Shapes OLX’s multi-brand visual identity, establishes design systems and standards, and develops AI-enabled creative workflows.

Lead Posted 8 days ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About the Role

At OLX, Design is more than aesthetics, it’s how millions of people build trust, discover opportunities, and connect with their communities. As Principal Brand Designer, you’ll shape how OLX and its portfolio of brands are experienced across every customer touchpoint.

Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you’ll define the visual principles, creative systems, and brand standards that unite a diverse portfolio while allowing each brand to express its unique identity. This is a highly strategic, hands-on individual contributor role for someone who combines exceptional craft with systems thinking, influences through expertise, and embraces AI as a catalyst for creativity, consistency, and scale.

Working in close partnership with Marketing, Brand Strategy, Product Design, Communications, Employer Brand and regional teams, you’ll translate business strategy, customer insights and brand positioning into cohesive creative systems that strengthen brand equity, build customer trust and accelerate high-quality execution across the organisation.

You’ll establish the creative vision and quality bar for brand design, while building the frameworks, governance and tools that enable teams worldwide to create distinctive, consistent and impactful brand experiences.

What you’ll own

Define the future of OLX’s  Group’s brand ecosystem

Partnering with the Director of Product Design, Marketing and Brand Strategy, you’ll evolve the visual identity and creative direction across OLX Group and its portfolio of brands. You’ll ensure our brands feel connected where they should, distinctive where they need to be, and consistently recognisable across every customer touchpoint.

  • Group-wide brand identity systems and visual standards

  • Brand visual identity governance, quality assurance and design principles

  • Multi-brand design systems and asset libraries

  • Creative direction across digital, physical and experiential touchpoints related to brand design (excludes advertising)

  • Long-term evolution of OLX Group’s visual identity and assets.

Build scalable creative systems powered by AI

You’ll help define how AI enhances brand design across OLX Group by developing AI-ready design systems, prompt libraries, reusable templates, automation workflows and governance that empower teams to produce high-quality work consistently and efficiently.

Rather than replacing creativity, you’ll ensure AI amplifies craftsmanship, accelerates production and strengthens consistency while maintaining the integrity of every brand.

You’ll also stay ahead of emerging technologies, identifying opportunities where AI can improve creative workflows, collaboration and design quality across the organisation.

Raise the creative standard across OLX Group

As the most senior brand design practitioner, you’ll establish the benchmark for the application of brand design across  product launches, executive communications, presentations, employer branding, events, web experiences and marketing initiatives.

You’ll provide creative direction, thoughtful critique and hands-on design leadership, ensuring every expression of the brand reflects exceptional craft, clarity and purpose.

Translate strategy into brand experiences

You’ll partner closely with Marketing and Brand Strategy from the earliest stages of initiatives, transforming customer insights, research and business priorities into compelling visual systems and brand experiences.

You’ll contribute strategic thinking—not simply execute briefs, helping teams solve complex business challenges through design that strengthens trust, recognition and long-term brand value.

Drive adoption and influence across the organisation

Creating great systems is only part of the role, you’ll ensure they’re embraced.

You’ll build documentation, enablement programmes, design resources and governance models that help global and regional teams confidently apply OLX Group’s brand standards.

You’ll influence senior stakeholders across Product, Marketing and Executive Leadership, aligning teams around a shared creative vision and ensuring design has a meaningful voice in strategic decision-making.

Mentor and elevate the craft

As a Principal Designer, your influence extends well beyond your own work.

You’ll coach designers through critique, mentoring and collaboration, fostering a culture of craftsmanship, systems thinking and continuous improvement. While this isn’t a people management role, you’ll be recognised as a trusted design leader whose expertise elevates the entire organisation.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a strategic design leader with exceptional craft, systems thinking and a passion for building brands that scale globally.

You create brands that people trust

Your portfolio demonstrates outstanding work across visual identity, typography, layout, storytelling, motion and digital experiences. You understand how to create memorable brands—and how to evolve and steward them over time.

You think in systems

You build frameworks, governance models, templates and design systems that enable organisations to produce consistently exceptional work. You know that the best design creates lasting capability, not just individual deliverables.

You bring strategy to life through Design

You’re comfortable partnering with Marketing, Brand Strategy and executive stakeholders, translating positioning, customer insights and business objectives into creative systems that deliver measurable business impact.

You’re fluent in AI-enabled Design

You already incorporate AI into your creative practice and understand where emerging technologies create value, and where human judgement remains essential.

You can translate those insights into scalable workflows that improve quality, speed, experimentation and consistency across teams.

You influence without authority

You communicate with clarity, build trusted relationships and bring people together around a shared creative vision. You’re equally comfortable presenting to executives, collaborating with marketers or mentoring fellow designers.

You bring depth of experience

You’ll likely have:

  • 10+ years of experience in brand design, or visual design

  • Experience building or evolving brands at scale across multiple products or markets

  • Expertise in Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience with motion design, storytelling, and digital brand experiences

  • Experience building or contributing to enterprise design systems

  • Deep familiarity with AI-powered creative tools and workflows

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

Why join OLX

This role offers the chance to influence design beyond individual projects to build the frameworks, standards, and creative vision that will guide OLX’s brands for years to come.
